Scientology Advertises Through Google

I saw this rather humorous advertisement next to some religious articles in Google News.

scientologyThey are apparently proud of the fact that they are the only “major” religion invented by a kook in the 20th century. I’d be curious to see how much they spend spamming through Google. The really sad thing about Scientology, after their moronic theology of course, is that their plan of securing a foothold in society through wooing celebrities has actually worked to some degree.

In England I lived in the flat next door to one of the British leaders of this thing called Scientology. He was no kook however, but a typical English intellectual without God or any absolutes. It is a thing for the 21st postmodern world. I fear it is growing! We simply must demand the Judeo-Christian absolutes of scripture and revelation!

Yeah … I’d sure be proud of being founded by a science fiction author who wanted to prove how absurd religion is.

But at least they have Tom Cruise as a prophet!

    Sigh …

That’s an amazing ad…thanks for bringing it to our attention. I would never have imagined that even Scientology would advertise on Google, but clearly my imagination was lacking. Since Tom Cruise is on the cover of national magazines far more often than, say, the Pope or Jesus or the Dalai Lama, maybe focusing on celebrities is a good marketing strategy, but without wisdom behind it, no strategem can succeed in the long run.

Well in our dumbing down postmodern, postchristian culture this appears to be working. Their ads are on prime time. Wisdom? without the redemptive Christ it is nonexistent, save perhaps the Judeo culture somewhat.
